Takes just moments to prepare, but make sure you leave time for the chicken to marinate first. Recipe serves 4.


Lemon chicken in a traditional pan


  • 4 chicken breasts
  • Juice and rind of 2 lemons
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped finely
  • Olive oil
  • Black pepper

For the Broccoli:

  • 1 large head of broccoli, cut into florets
  • Fresh ginger, approx. 3 teaspoons grated
  • 1 teaspoon tamari soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon fish sauce
  • 3 tablespoons of water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 teaspoons sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil


Use a meat tenderiser to flatten the chicken. Alternatively you could bash it a bit and roll it with a rolling pin! Marinate the chicken with the juice and zest from the lemons, the garlic and some olive oil. Season with a little black pepper.

Heat the griddle to a high temperature and grill the chicken until it is cooked through.

Try serving with ginger broccoli…

Heat the olive oil in a heavy based frying pan or wok. Add the broccoli and toss with a pair of tongs for a couple of minutes until the broccoli turns a darker shade of emerald green. Add the ginger and sesame seeds and continue to cook for a minute. Add the soy sauce, fish sauce, sesame oil and water and cover so that the broccoli continues to ‘steam fry’ for a minute until cooked.
