A more personalised approach to nutrition: introducing Lifecode Gx testing on in:spa retreats

No two people respond to food in quite the same way. What leaves one person feeling energised may have a very different effect on someone else, while our individual needs for certain vitamins and minerals can vary too.

That is why we are introducing the Lifecode Gx Nutrient Core Report as an optional addition on select retreats, giving our in:spa guests the opportunity to explore their nutrition on a more personal level.

What is the Lifecode Gx Nutrient Core Report?

The Nutrient Core Report examines selected genetic variants associated with the way your body may respond to different aspects of diet and lifestyle.

It explores areas including food response, caffeine sensitivity, vitamin and mineral needs, blood sugar balance, appetite regulation, detoxification, inflammation and circadian rhythm. It can also highlight genetic predispositions relating to lactose and gluten response, salt sensitivity and the metabolism of certain nutrients.

Rather than offering a rigid set of rules, the report provides an additional layer of personal information that can be considered alongside your current diet, lifestyle and individual goals (which you can also discuss with your nutritionist whilst on retreat).

How does the test work?

The process is really simple and takes just minutes. Your DNA sample is collected at home using a swab from the inside of your cheek, which is then returned for analysis. There are no blood tests or clinic appointments required.

Your results are presented in a detailed, colour-coded report explaining the genetic variants analysed, their potential impact and the relevant nutritional and lifestyle considerations.

Bringing greater insight to your retreat consultation

The real value comes from having your results explained in the context of your own health and lifestyle.

Christine Kjeldbjerg, one of our nutritionists, is fully trained with Lifecode Gx and highly recommends the Nutrient Core Report. If you choose to complete the test before your retreat, Christine will take you through your individual findings during your nutrition consultation.

She will help you understand what the results may mean for you, which areas are most relevant and how the information could inform a more personalised approach to eating and everyday wellbeing.

Genetics is only one part of the picture, of course. Our genes do not determine our health in isolation, and the report is not intended to diagnose medical conditions. Instead, it offers useful insight that can be explored alongside your habits, preferences, environment and wider health history.

An optional extra for in:spa guests

The Lifecode Gx Nutrient Core Report is entirely optional, but we believe it will be a fascinating and valuable addition for guests who would like to delve more deeply into their nutrition.

The usual online price is £399 but in:spa guests can access the package for £315, which includes the Lifecode Gx DNA test kit, the Nutrient Core Report and a personal consultation with Christine during the retreat to discuss results.
